Beschreibung
El Perezoso is a Responsible Tourism Agency located in the city of Leon, Nicaragua. It was born in 2013 with the aim of promoting and expanding the growth of a sustainable tourism model for Nicaragua, this is, tourism with emphasis on ethics and practices in a social and ecological environment.
According to the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) Sustainable Tourism is:
“Tourism that takes full concern of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, adressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities”.
For us, the exploitation of natural resources is fully compatible with tourism development in rural areas, because this activity creates economical incomes for the local population. This process must take place with an attitude of respect for a social, cultural, economical and environmental backgrounds. Every agent involved in this process must assume a long term commitment to both, actors around him and local communites.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
“The real journey of discovery does not consist in seeking new landscapes, but in developing new ways of seeing.” (Marcel Proust)
We provide tours under a different perspective, inviting our guests to discover Nicaragua and its people in depth. We must start from ourselves in order to make a difference, so every single step we take in this direction contributes to build a better world, a world whose inhabitants will become more aware of their resources.
It is essential to actively involve the visitor in the socio-economic and environmental realities of the country to preserve and enjoy these resources by present and future generations: its customs, traditions and the promotion of its environmental and ethnographic richness conservation.
Far from focusing on a kind of mass tourism, consumerist and superficial, we propose a cultural exchange in a human and balanced level between local reality and visitors. For this porpose it is basic to mediate between both parties and act like a “bridge”. This is promoting the true experience of interconnection, so the magic of the encounter can take place for everybody first with themselves and then, by extension, with their neighbours.
